Dr. Scharlop received a B.S. degree Cum Laude in Biology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She received her Medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Scharlop has been in private practice with Womancare of Williamsburg since 1989.

Dr. Scharlop is board certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has special interest and expertise in pediatric and adolescent gynecology, reproductive endocrinology, infertility and menopause.

Dr. Scharlop is active in the community. She has been the chairperson for the Peninsula Jewish Film Festival and a long-standing member of the PTA Board for Lafayette High School. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
